Busy Fall

September and October went by so fast! I've been busy with work and home improvement projects. We also took a weekend trip to Atlanta which was amazing. I have finished my commission that I was working on. I also started working on an unfinished watercolor. I'm putting my etsy store on sale for 25% off starting tomorrow in honor of my 25th birthday Saturday. My how time flies. I'm also going to be generating some smaller pieces so that I can see if the lower price points help to garner some sales. It's almost time for the Winter quarter to begin which also means Spring tuition will be looming...

New Listing on Etsy

Picked up my painting of the Birch Trees at Creamer's Field in Fairbanks, AK. I listed it on etsy for $250. It is acrylic on 20"x24" stretched canvas. I really loved working on this piece. Autumn doesn't last long in Alaska so this was a nice way to extend it.

New Item on Etsy and Back to School

I have just listed a recently completed painting on Etsy. It is an image of Haines and Fort Seward Alaska. I worked in Acrylic and used modeling paste to create texture and depth in the snow and mountains. It is 34"x28.5" with the frame. I don't even remember when I started working on it, maybe 6 months or so ago. I completed it in early August. In other news the new semester is starting soon and I'm going back full time finally. I'm biting the financial bullet as it were so that I can complete my degree within the next three years! Instead of the rate I've been going with one or two classes a semester then I would graduate in 10 years! Well I'm off to work on a few more pieces so that I can finish a commission and put another painting on etsy, this time a watercolor.

Juried Art Show

I entered two pieces into the juried art show at the Dowling Ann Rudd Art Center in Ozark, AL. One of my pieces got in! Hooray! The opening for the show is August 25th from 7pm-9pm in downtown Ozark (at the Ann Rudd Art Center). The show will be up until September 24th. I'll be adding the other piece to my etsy shop soon.

Work in Progress

This is a commission I'm working on. Taco & Peanut. I've been drawing it out for about a week and was never really satisfied with the proportions so I decided to just start painting it. The under painting is coming along nicely. This is after about an hour or so of work, with my dog trying to get my attention...

Work in Progress

I'm still working on this piece. Its a view of Haines, Alaska and Fort Seward. I have decided to take the dark grey cloud out of the top corner, the balance bothers me plus I think it looks like the smoke monster from Lost. I have really enjoyed using texture with this piece and have experimented with modeling paste and glazing. Fairly happy with it not quite done yet though.

Two Paintings Added

The top painting is of a cabin in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. It is 16x20 and is listed at $50. The second painting is from an aerial photograph during a sightseeing tour of Denali National Park in Alaska. It is 20x24 and took second place in the 2008 Tanana Valley State Fair in Fairbanks, AK it is listed for $250. I will be working hard to add more paintings to my etsy sight and I will post progress here.

Blog Purpose

I'm starting this blog as a place to document my journey selling my artwork in order to save money for my BFA degree. I am currently in the process of transferring to the Savannah College of Art and Design (hopefully I'll get in) where I will be completing my Bachelors in Graphic Design. I work full time and I am actively working to create a larger body of work so that I can sell. The proceeds of all of my art sales will go towards my tuition. The majority of my work will be available on my etsy site which I will provide links for. I will be posting work as it progresses and is available for sale.
